Wonder where to get Windows XP/Vista drivers for your Acer Aspire One? Check out the official Acer driver repository. To download appropriate drivers you have to select Notebooks and then find Aspire One in the list. Choose your model… You will be given a link for driver download, as well as to BIOS updates, patches, applications and docs.

Update: Acers changed their Drivers and Downloads page, so now to get to drivers for Acer Aspire One you have to select Netbooks.

Once you land on Aspire One drivers page you can choose drivers for Windows XP or Windows Vista using Operating System drop down list. Note that for some models of Aspire One only drivers for Windows XP are provided.

There might be some alternative sources of drivers for Windows around, however we highly recommend using drivers from official repository. Drivers downloaded from the third party web sites can cause harm to your notebook.

jkOnTheRun has a set of two articles describing 5 things he likes about Acer Aspire One and 5 things he dislike about it.

Among the Acer Aspire One likes are

build quality – very good

display – excellent

battery life – 3 hours of run-time with WiFi on (not bad at all)

storage expansion

Linpus Lite environment

Among the dislikes are

Linpus Lite implementation – no option for adding applications

mouse buttons – loud and inconvenient

open RAM slot isn’t easy to access (who cares about this one?)

SSD isn’t that quick and external screen resolution

Even with dislikes, jk concludes: I’ve had the device for under 24 hours at this point. To be fair, we’re talking about a $379 netbook that will surely make some people very happy. I’m not globally condemning the device in any way, shape or form. I’m simply sharing my opinions which of course are based on my computing needs and requirements. If I had the $399 unit with XP and the hard drive, I might feel differently as a few of my disappointments would likely disappear.

Check out jkOnTheRun for details.
